Bush Expresses Regret Over Iraq Rhetoric
The UK's Times reports that in an exclusive interview, President Bush "admitted...that his gun-slinging rhetoric made the world believe that he was a 'guy really anxious for war' in Iraq." President Bush "expressed regret at the bitter divisions over the war and said that he was troubled about how his country had been misunderstood. 'I think that in retrospect I could have used a different tone, a different rhetoric.' Phrases such as 'bring them on' or 'dead or alive', he said, 'indicated to people that I was, you know, not a man of peace.'"
REEEAAALLLYY??? The man we chose to be the LEADER of the West DIDN'T realize the words he used would be taken in a less-than-war-mongering manner? This is a prime example of the stubbornness, arrogance and insensitivity that this individual brought to the highest office in our land. It's irresponsible and he's still doing it. His most recent statements as he wades into the '08 election process are a return to the fear-rhetoric and passive-aggressive threat language that has come so easily to him & his cronies in the past. This week's comments to UK Times regarding the presidential race label Obama as a "protectionist" and warned the American People that the European leaders won't stand for it ... Thanks for the threat, Mr. President.
Did it EVER occur to the pundits and members of the far left & right - all of which seem to scream the LOUDEST that the people of this country don't know what they are talking about - that the reason the race has come down to Obama & McCain is a pretty clear statement that people want SOME level of moderate in charge? Doesn't it make perfect sense that the best leader would be someone who isn't prone to exteme beliefs or behavior?
